FRP sand-filled pipe is one of the FRP products. Many user units lack an understanding of FRP raw materials, functions, etc. Many people blindly believe that FRP sand-filled pipes have high strength, will not rust, and are protected by a gel coat layer, so they do not need maintenance. This has caused many FRP sand-filled pipe equipment to lose their appearance prematurely due to lack of maintenance and maintenance, shortening their service life.
FRP sand-filled pipes are made of synthetic resin as the matrix and glass fiber as the reinforcing material. It has a strength similar to that of steel, has water resistance and corrosion resistance, and has a smooth surface like a mirror and can be formed as a whole; but it also has some shortcomings, such as poor wear resistance. In particular, many factors affect quality (such as the quality of raw materials, the quality of staff skills, production conditions environmental factors, etc.), which makes the quality of similar products vary greatly. Compared with steel and wooden ships, FRP ships have the characteristics of less maintenance, which is determined by the functions of FRP itself. However, FRP, like all materials, also has aging problems, but the aging process is slower. Even if a gel coat resin is applied to the surface of the boat to form a protective layer, the thickness is only 0.3-0.5 mm, which will be damaged and thinned under frequent friction and environmental corrosion.
Therefore, FRP sand-filled pipes require less maintenance but do not require no maintenance. Proper protection can not only maintain a beautiful appearance but also extend the service life of FRP sand-filled pipes.
