Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology is an important means of controlling nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions produced during the combustion process and is widely used in coal-fired boilers in thermal power plants. This technology effectively reduces the concentration of nitrogen oxides in flue gas, mainly targeting nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Nitric oxide accounts for 95% of total NOx emissions, and nitrogen dioxide accounts for 5%.The core principle of SCR is to use a catalyst to reduce NO and NO2 to harmless nitrogen (N2) at a relatively low temperature using ammonia (NH3) as a reducing agent. This process is carried out under the action of a catalyst, which significantly improves the selectivity of nitrogen and effectively reduces the consumption of ammonia. When the molar ratio of NH3 to NOx reaches 1, the removal rate of NOx can be as high as 90%, while the amount of ammonia escape is controlled below 3mg/L.In practical applications, the operating conditions of the SCR system should be dynamically adjusted based on factors such as flue gas composition, temperature, and flow rate. Through real-time monitoring of flue gas components, the amount of reductant injection can be automatically adjusted to ensure that NOx emissions always meet regulatory requirements.
